How to put safely your WordPress site in maintenance mode using plugin?

Hey! I think we’ll all agree with the fact that nobody likes to watch broken pages. Especially if you are a web developer, you do not want your client to call you because he is seeing.

HTTP 500 - Internal Server Error

or

Warning: require_once(__DIR__/src/_Models/GetCustomePost.php) [function.require-once]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /partner_homekoncept/wp-content/themes/tektum/functions.php on line 54

Fatal error: require_once() [function.require]: Failed opening required '__DIR__/src/_Models/GetCustomePost.php' (include_path='.:/:/usr/local/php5/lib/pear') in /partner/wp-content/themes/tektum/functions.php on line 54

Or I imagine that you have a large website and your users see the above messages.

We had similar problems at the beginning. Then we created procedures and templates. Here is some example of our solutions in blog article we have made, feel free to use it https://themastercut.co/tutorials/how-to-set-up-password-protection-with-htaccess-htpasswd-on-your-wordpress/.

But every time we had to do it manually, which took us valuable time. That’s how the Real Maintenance Mode TMC plugin was made.

Why do we think that this plugin can be very helpful when you maintaining your WordPress? Some of the reasons below:

  1. Works even if your WordPress installation breaks. It is possible, because The Real Maintenance Mode TMC plugin generate static lock-down page on the server, outside the WordPress installation.
  2. Easy to set up Whitelist IP’s or set password protected logins.
  3. Easy to use and customize. Simple type your maintenance msg ora upload your template.

Below you have screenshots from the plugin and here is direct link to the Maintenance Mode plugin https://themastercut.co/plugins/the-real-maintenance-mode-tmc/.
